Nalini is an Amazing yoga instructor, although my mother & myself are only beginners she is so welcoming and supportive and has made us feel so comfortable. As an oldie with a chassis that is the worse for wear, Nalini's Yoga for Seniors has been an ideal activity to exercise and awaken all parts of my body and mind. A supportive and friendly class to help you gently tone, improve flexibility and strengthen your body, ease mental tension and sooth the mind.

Everyone can practice yoga, regardless of age, experience or level of flexibility.

Begin with gentle movements, followed by postures to make you strong then breathing techniques that can energise or relax, meditation to calm the mind followed by Yoga Nidra a deep relaxation.

Yoga is about living in the moment whether in class or in everyday life.

Everyone needs to find serenity and a sense of peace so come along take your place on the mat and leave feeling deeply relaxed, centred and grounded.

The Teacher

Nalini Singam, a certified yoga therapist and yoga instructor, has 19 years experience in Corporate Finance.  Looking to relax from her stressful and demanding career, she tried out yoga.  Experiencing a session of pranayama (breathing) in her first yoga class, Nalini realised that she had found the lifeline back to herself.  After falling in love with yoga and embracing the practice for 13 years, Nalini traded in her high heels for bare feet.  She completed a full time teacher training with Master Manisekaran, one of the world leading exponents of yoga who trained in India. 

Now a full time Yoga Teacher, Yoga Therapist and a Registered Teacher (Level 2) with Yoga Australia as well as a practitioner, Nalini feels privileged to be able to immerse herself in her yoga practice and incorporate it into her daily life, whilst choosing to share it with others.   Grounded with Gratitude was established in 2009 , taking her passion to a new level, offering Traditional Hatha Yoga to people from all walks of life. 

Nalini infuses her classes with warm-heartedness and joy to connect with her students.  Keeping to authentic Yoga practice, she encourages students to work within their present capacity only challenging themselves into stronger poses once the foundations are stable. Students are entreated to move deeply inward to find alignment that includes physical, mental and emotional balance, learning to connect the mind, body and breath.   

 Nalini teaches Yoga, Meditation and Deep Relaxation/Yoga Nidra classes at Pines Learning, U3A, Balwyn Community Centre, Contact Community House, Wonga Park Community Cottage, as well as running private yoga classes and one to one yoga therapy from her boutique home studio overlooking a luscious private park, creating an oasis of calm for her students to unwind. 

She also now teaches both Online and Face to Face Group classes as well as streaming Live Yoga classes on the Insight Timer App. She also conducts Workplace Yoga ranging from LifeView Facilities to the Institute of Neuroscience and Private Yoga at Ishika Spa at Crown Metropole and Taekwando Australia as well as Yoga 4 VCE in the local schools.  

She loves looking at her students’ serene faces after Yoga Nidra, seeing that they are not the same people who walked into class 75 minutes earlier.  She also loves her Young Yogis classes that are energetic and full of fun.
